Verizon How Sweet the Sound Choir Contest Official Rules
 
Who Can Enter

1.  To be eligible to participate in this contest, entrants must be high school students and U.S. residents who are 16 years or older, reside in the WBFF-TV and WNUV-TV viewing area. 

2.  Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC., and any other company which owns, programs or provides other services to the television broadcast stations WBFF-TV and WNUV-TV (collectively, the “Stations”), WUTB, Verizon, (the “Sponsor”), their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible.  The term “immediate families” includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren.  Only one winner per household if more than one winner per contest. To be eligible, you cannot have won any contest on WBFF or WNUV in the past 30 days from the end date of this promotion.

How to Enter

(a)  To enter, log on to www.FOXbaltimore.com download the entry/release form and mail it to “How Sweet The Sound Contest”, FOX45 2000 West 41st Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 and complete the online registration form.  Follow instructions on foxbaltimore.com to upload a video of your group singing the approved public domain list of songs.  Alternatively, mail or drop off video entries with accompanying completed entry and release forms are during regular business hours at WBFF/WNUV, 2000 West 41st Street, Baltimore, MD 21211, Attention: How Sweet the Sound Contest. Video must be no longer than 2 minutes in length.  Each video will be counted as one entry and cannot be entered more than once.  Duplicate video entries will be disqualified, and the Station reserves the right to disqualify the initial entry based on non-compliance with any of the contest rules.  

 (b)  The contest starts on September 9, 2013 at 12:00 a.m. EDT and all entries must be received by Station by 11:59 p.m. EDT on September 18, 2013.   Videos must be submitted online ONLY and must be .avi, .dv, .mov, .qt, .mp4, .mpeg, .3gp, .asf, .wmv, .mpg). Maximum file size is  200 MB.

(c) All entries will be judged by a panel of four (4) judges based on vocal talent (33 1/3%), execution/personality (33 1/3%), and appearance (33 1/3%).   On September  19, 2013, three (3) finalists will be determined by the judges based on the criterion set forth above.  The decisions of the Station and judges are final. The Station and judges have the right to disqualify any entrant due to the breach of any representation made at the time of entry.
 
(d) Video entries of choir groups must contain only original work and may not contain any copyrighted or trademarked material including but not limited to: photograph likenesses of or references to celebrities or known persons alive or dead, recorded music, published works from books, magazines, newspapers, plays, song lyrics, scripts, essays, articles, web site content, or clips from television programs or movies, sports footage, official logos of any organization, existing artwork or graphic design.  Entrants cannot use copyrighted music; only original or uncopyrighted music.   The Stations reserve the right to edit, crop or alter the video entries without notification to or approval by the entrant.

(e) No royalties, talent fees or compensation will be paid to those who appear in the video entry submissions. Any individual appearing in one of the three (3) finalist’s video submissions will be required to sign an appearance release form.  Anyone under the age of 18 who appears in any of the three (3) finalists’ video submissions shall require a parent or legal guardian signature to sign such appearance release to appear in the submission.

(f) All entries (including videos) received that are duplicate, mutilated, tampered with, incorrect, illegible, or from ineligible entrants will be void.  All entries (including videos) become the property of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc. and the Stations and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Voting Phase

(a)    Between 8:00 a.m. EDT on September 23, 2013 and 3 p.m. EDT on September 27, 2013 viewers will be prompted to log onto foxbaltimore.com to vote for their favorite finalist choir.   Voting is limited to one IP address per day.    Duplicate votes will be disqualified.   Finalists are prohibited from obtaining votes by offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, vote farming, or any other activity that artificially inflates such finalist’s votes as determined by Station in its sole discretion The Station reserves the right to determine in its sole and absolute discretion whether the online votes are valid, and may disqualify any duplicate votes.  Multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source will be considered invalid.
 
(b)    On September 27, 2013, the finalist choir video with the most valid votes, as determined by the Station in its sole and absolute discretion will be deemed the winner.  The winner will be announced on FOX45 Morning News the week of September 30, 2013.

The Prize

1.   One (1) grand prize choir group will receive twenty (20) hours of studio recording time with Rhema Visions which includes an engineer and musicians if the choir does not have their own musicians, writing and recording of four (4) original songs, one demo CD.
Rhema Visions will retain the recording and publishing rights for the winner to record. Total value of the prize is $3,000.  The prize must be used by March 31, 2014 and is subject to Rhema Visions’ availability and standard terms and conditions,

2.  The winning choir will be contacted by phone.  The winning choir must timely sign and return a release and affidavit of eligibility within 10 days of notification. That employee must show school picture identification to claim the prize. Stations reserve the right to examine additional identification and may choose to accept or deny awarding the prize based on the identification presented.

3.    Failure to claim the prize within 10 days shall constitute forfeiture of the prize.  If forfeited, the Stations may award the prize to an alternate winner with the next highest number of votes, as determined by the Stations.

4.  There will be no substitutions or cash alternatives for prizes except at the sole discretion of Station.  The Station has the right to substitute a prize of similar value.  No transfer or assignment of prizes is allowed.

5.  The winner is responsible for any taxes related to the prize based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules.  Winner should consult their tax consultants regarding any tax questions. In addition, Winner will be required to fill out and sign an IRS form W9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification.

6. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC are not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize.

7.  Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC are not responsible for any liabilities arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.

8.  In claiming your prize, you acknowledge that Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC have the right to publicize the winners names, character, likeness, photograph, voice and the fact that you are the winners for promotional purposes without financial remuneration.

Odds of Winning/Miscellaneous

1.  Complete contest rules are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours WBFF 2000 West 41st Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 and www.FOXbaltimore.com.

2.  For a list of prize winners, send a separate, self-addressed, stamped envelope to Attn: How Sweet the Sound Contest, WBFF 2000 West 41st Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 by October 31, 2013.

3.  This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC, Rhema Visions, and Verizon accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.

4.  Station cannot be held liable for any lost or stolen entries, prizes or contest information.

5.  Station reserves the right to make rules and contest changes and change the aforementioned contest dates.

6.   By entering this contest, each entrant waives any and all claims of liability against the Station, any sponsors, Facebook.com, and their respective parent, affiliates, officers, directors, employees and agents, for any and all claims, loss, damage or injury which may occur as a result of entrant’s participation in this contest.
