Who Can Enter
1. To be eligible to participate in this contest, entrants must be Maryland residents who are 18 years of age or older and reside in the WBFF viewing area.
2. Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Communications, LLC, and any other company which owns, programs or provides other services to television broadcast station WBFF (the “Station”), WNUV, Advance Autoparts, Feld Entertainment, Inc., Monster Jam, M&T Stadium, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible. The term “immediate families” includes spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Only one winner per household if more than one winner per contest. To be eligible, you can not have won any contest on WBFF or WNUV in the past 30 days from the end date of this promotion.
How to Enter
1. No purchase is necessary to enter. Only one entry per person. Only individuals can enter; no group entries. Only the individual entrant can appear in the video submitted.
2. To enter, log on to www.FOXbaltimore.com and complete the online registration form and release, and upload a video of yourself singing the National Anthem (Star Spangled Banner) in a cappella style (no music/voice only). Video must be no longer than 2 minutes in length. Each video will be counted as one entry and cannot be entered more than once. Duplicate video entries will be disqualified, and the Station reserves the right to disqualify the initial entry based on section “6” below.
3. The contest starts on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 5:00 a.m.. EDT and all entries must be received by Station by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Videos must be submitted online ONLY and must be .avi, .dv, .mov, .qt, .mp4, .mpeg, .3gp, .asf, .wmv, .mpg). Maximum file size is 200 MB.
4. Station is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries, server unavailability, computer or any other electronic malfunction.
5. All entries received that are mutilated, tampered with, illegible, or from ineligible entrants will be void. All entries become the property of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc. and the Station and will not be acknowledged or returned.
6. By entering, entrant represents and warrants that (i) the video is original, (ii) he/she owns the content, (iii) the video does not violate the rights of any third parties, and (iv) entrant agrees to the Station’s terms and conditions located at http://foxbaltimore.com/sections/station/legal/terms.shtml. All entries must be entrants’ original work and should not be/have been submitted to or published or broadcast by any other publication or media company. The video may not contain any copyrighted or trademarked material including but not limited to: photograph likenesses of or references to celebrities or known persons alive or dead, recorded music, published works from books, magazines, newspapers, plays, song lyrics, scripts, essays, articles, web site content, or clips from television programs or movies, sports footage, official logos of any organization, existing artwork or graphic design. Entrants singing portion of the video entry must be a capella. In addition, the video may not contain nudity or profanity of any kind, and may not use real weapons, drugs or any other illegal substance or illegal action. The Station reserves the right to edit, crop or alter the video without notification to or approval by the applicant.
Judging of the Entries
Phase One: Online voting
1. From Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 6 p.m. EDT to Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:59 p.m., viewers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist video. Viewers can vote by submitting their vote online at www.FOXbaltimore.com . The Station reserves the right to edit, crop or alter the video without notification to or approval by the entrant.
2. Voting is limited to one vote per IP address per day. Duplicate votes will be disqualified. Entrants are prohibited from obtaining votes by offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public, vote farming, or any other activity that artificially inflates such entrant’s votes as determined by Station in its sole discretion. The Station reserves the right to determine in its sole and absolute discretion whether the online votes are valid, and may disqualify any duplicate votes. Multiple and/or irregular votes or multiple votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source will be considered invalid.
3. The video entries with the most valid votes, as determined by the Station in its sole and absolute discretion will be deemed the finalists.
4. The top five (5) finalists based on the video entries with the highest number of valid votes will be announced on FOX45 Morning News on Thursday, May 30, 2013.
5. In the event of a tie, a judging panel made up of the producers of FOX45 Morning News will determine the finalists based on vocal talent (33 1/3%), execution/personality (33 1/3%), and appearance (33 1/3%). The decisions of the Station and judges are final. The Station and judges have the right to disqualify any entrant due to the breach of any representation made at the time of entry.
Phase Two: Live Competition on FOX45 Morning News
1. On Thursday, May 30, 2013, each of the five (5) finalists will compete in a live singing competition at M&T Bank Stadium during FOX45 Morning News. Finalists must sing the National Anthem (Star Spangled Banner) in a cappella style (no music/voice only). Finalists will be judged by a panel of three (3) judges and shall be judged based on vocal talent (33 1/3%), execution/personality (33 1/3%), and appearance (33 1/3%). The judges shall deem one (1) winner based on the highest score of the criterion set forth above. Any finalist who does not appear for the live competition will be disqualified.
2. In the event of a tie that cannot be resolved by the judges, the entrant with the highest vocal talent score will be chosen. If that fails to resolve the tie, then the winner will be randomly selected from among the tied entrants.
3. The winner will be announced on FOX45 Morning News on Monday, June 3, 2013.
4. The decisions of the Station (including interpretation of rules) and all judges are final.
The Prize(s)
1. Each of the finalists which appear for the live competition will receive four (4) tickets to the Advance Autoparts Monster Jam at M&T Bank Stadium, valued at $60. In addition to the finalist prize, the grand prize winner will have the opportunity to perform the National Anthem before a live audience at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Advance Autoparts Monster Jam. The value of this singing opportunity cannot be determined. Station and Sponsors are not responsible in the event the performance is cancelled or postponed.
2. The finalists and winner will be notified by phone. Each finalist and winner must sign and return a release and affidavit of eligibility within five (5) days of notification. Winners must show picture identification to claim prizes. Station reserves the right to examine additional identification and may choose to accept or deny awarding the prize based on the identification presented.
3. If a finalist or winner cannot be notified within two (2) days or does not timely sign and return the releases required in paragraph 2 above, then the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected by the judges in their sole and absolute discretion.
4. There will be no substitutions or cash alternatives for prizes except at the sole discretion of Station. The Station has the right to substitute a prize of similar value. No transfer or assignment of prizes is allowed.
5. The finalists and winner are responsible for paying all local, county, state and federal taxes on prizes based on the estimated retail value of the prizes as set forth in these rules.
6. In claiming your prize, you acknowledge that Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Communications, LLC have the right to publicize your name, character, likeness, photograph, voice and the fact that you are the finalist and/or winner for promotional purposes without financial remuneration.
Miscellaneous
1. Contestants are eligible to win only one prize within any 30 day period, regardless of the number of contests entered.
2. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC are not liable if the provider of any part of the prize fails to satisfy its obligations to furnish its portion of the prize.
3. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and Sinclair Communications, LLC are not responsible for any liabilities arising directly or indirectly from the award or use of the prize.
4. Complete contest rules are available Monday through Friday during normal business hours at WBFF 2000 West 41st Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 and www.FOXbaltimore.com
5. For a list of prize winners, send a separate, self-addressed, stamped envelope Star Spangles Sing Off Winners c/o WBFF 2000 West 41st Street, Baltimore, MD 21211 by July 30, 2013.
6. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., Sinclair Communications, LLC, Advance Auto Parts, Feld Entertainment, Inc., and M&T Stadium accept no responsibility or liability in connection with any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of any prize awarded hereunder.
7. Station cannot be held liable for any lost or stolen entries, prizes or contest information. Station is not responsible for any computer or electronic malfunction, server unavailability, technological glitch, or human error relating to this contest.
8. Station reserves the right to make rules and contest changes and change the aforementioned contest dates.
